Taste Santo Domingo 2013: the most relevant gastronomy week

Having become a symbol of Dominican gastronomy, Taste Santo Domingo 2013 is now in its fifth annual edition.
The largest and most relevant international culinary event held in the island, it aims to bolster the Dominican’s Republic gastronomic image.
Professionals in the restaurant industry and ordinary culinary lovers alike are invited to partake in this novel event from 2 to 6 of October.
Sambil mall has been chosen as this year’s venue. Organizers promise a week full of flavor and skill.

Taste Santo Domingo 2013 is the ideal setting to find out about the latest trends of the the hospitality industry and get acquainted with the latest brands, products and services in the sector.
This year, renowned Spanish chef Xabier Gutiérrez, Head Chef and Arzak restaurant’s Culinary Lab Chief, graces attendees with his mastery and the unparalleled opportunity to sample the food of one of the 10 best restaurants in the world. As part of the event’s professional training, chef Osvaldo Gross, anchor of elgourmet.com, will deliver a keynote speech.

Two new major activities will be unraveled as part of this year’s program: the 50 Best Experience and the first edition of the Gastronomic Film Festival.
50 Best Experience purports to provoke an unsurpassed sensory experience, allowing diners to taste the most famous dishes from some of the world’s best restaurants. In its first installment, Biko Restaurant, featuring chef and its chef Mikel Alonso have been asked to delight visitors with some of their signature dishes.
The Gastronomic Film Festival will be showcased as part of this year’s program, where a variety of films related to gastronomy are promoted.

Taste Santo Domingo 2013 will exhibit the second Copa Culinaria de Las Américas Nestlé Profesional. This event couples professionals and students of culinary arts into three categories (Junior, Senior and Pastry) so they can show off their expertise.
Furthermore, activities like wine tastings, workshops and forums promoting Caribbean cuisine will be conducted. Prominent international chefs from Haiti, Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic will attend.
